Our first view of St. Eustatius was pretty amazing! The quill, or volcano looked huge. We were super excited to get there.
The first thing that Jonny noticed was that there were not as many mosquitos as we said there would be. I guess we exaggerated that a little. Kristin and Reese picked us up from the airport. We piled into the back of the landrover type truck and we drove to their house. The roads were narrow and very bumpy. Their house was multiple buildings on a large area with lots of grass and trees.
The kids immediately started playing with their long lost cousins.
After we settled in a few days, we headed to the beach. The beach that we went to was unreal. black sand beaches with stones from ancient buildings all around. Stunning!
Just look at that gorgous sand!
Love this girl. My Wendy Wendy.
This is the kitchen table area. This is where we hang out to visit and stay cool.

The second Sunday was very memorable. We went to the Methodist church and performed a special musical number. I played the piano while Nathan, Kristin and the kids sang a primary song. After church, we headed out to get some coconuts. Reese had a plan to climb the palm tree with his climbing gear and cut them down. Crazy, but it worked. He got halfway up and got stuck for a while, but he finally made it to the top.
We all hung out while he cut down like 15 coconuts.
Nathan and Kristin decided to go on their own little adventure and went over the fence to gather some sugar apples. Little monkeys!
We tried many different kinds of fruit while we were there. Sugar apples were a favorite.
