We were so excited for the last leg of our trip. We had never been to the Caribbean before, and were looking forward to the new experience. This is how we travel. Kindles and computers keep us sane on long flights, and of course, Emily loves the snacks.
The flight was really beautiful. I love being above the clouds. I couldn't believe it when we finally started seeing Islands. It was like a dream.
We landed and got a taxi to our hotel. It was a cute little place right between the airport and the beach. Our room had 1 king size bed that we all shared.
Of course the only thing we wanted to do was go to the beach. It was so amazing. Paradise! The water was not too deep and there were no fish or seaweed in it. The kids had a ball playing in the waves and sand.
After a while, we decided to go to the other side where the planes land. We walked along the beach and through town. We saw crabs and an iguana along the way.
The beach by the landing strip wasn't as big or nice, but we did get to see a few small planes land. The kids enjoyed playing more in the sand and running from the waves.
We ate dinner at a little Mexican restaurant. The walk back to our hotel was stunning. There was a beautiful sunset on one side and a full moon on the horizon.
We could have stayed here longer, it was so amazing! We were anxious to see Kristin's family and Statia though. The next morning we packed up and took the little plane to Statia.
I was a little nervous. I don't really like flying in little airplanes, but the flight was great. Not rough or scary at all. The kids loved it and were excited to be on our way to see cousins.
